Great orthodontics shouldn’t depend on your zip code

We exist to make expert, doctor-led orthodontic care easy to reach, easy to understand and easy to afford — for kids, teens and adults.

In 2009, Dr. Laura Whitfield opened a four-chair clinic in East Dallas after years of watching families put off treatment because pricing was confusing and good orthodontists felt out of reach. She offered free consultations, wrote every quote down in plain language and hired a bilingual front desk on day one.

Word spread. Today Orthivaro is a national network of more than 580 clinics in 36 states — but every one of them is still led by a licensed orthodontist, and every patient still gets the same standard of care that started in Dallas.

    A four-chair clinic in Dallas

    Dr. Laura Whitfield opens the first Orthivaro clinic in East Dallas with a promise: an orthodontist’s care at a price families can plan for.

  2. 2012

    Growing across Texas

    Twenty-five clinics in Dallas–Fort Worth, Houston and San Antonio, each with a bilingual front desk from day one.

  3. 2014

    Rising Star is born

    Free growth checkups for kids 7 and up, following the AAO’s age-7 recommendation — no treatment until it’s truly needed.

  4. 2015

    Smiles for Good launches

    Our first pro-bono treatment grants for kids whose families couldn’t otherwise afford braces.

  5. 2017

    100 clinics, five states

    We cross state lines into Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas and Arizona — and form our Clinical Standards Council.

  6. 2020

    Orthivaro Anywhere

    Our remote-monitoring app keeps 90,000 patients on track during the pandemic with photo check-ins and video visits.

  7. 2022

    Smile Express & 400 clinics

    Fast, mostly at-home aligners for minor cases — still designed and supervised by an orthodontist.

  8. 2026

    580+ clinics in 36 states

    More than 1.2 million smiles later, we’re still doctor-led — and still headquartered in Dallas.

Board-certified orthodontist who opened our first clinic in 2009. Still sees patients every Friday and chairs our Clinical Standards Council.

Chief Executive Officer

Joined in 2016 to grow the network without losing the neighborhood feel. Previously led operations for a national pediatric health group.

Chief Operating Officer

Oversees clinic operations, scheduling and the Orthivaro Anywhere platform across all 36 states.
