Every first visit follows the same unhurried rhythm, whether you’re 7 or 70. You’ll meet your orthodontist — not a salesperson — and you can ask anything along the way.

  1. Minutes 0–10

    Check-in & paperwork

    Our front-desk team welcomes you, scans your ID and insurance card and reviews your health history. Filled out your forms online? You’ll head straight to imaging.

  2. Minutes 10–20

    Digital X-rays & 3D scan

    Low-dose digital X-rays show roots, jaw growth and teeth that haven’t come in yet. Then a handheld scanner captures a 3D model of your bite in about two minutes — no goopy impressions.

  3. Minutes 20–35

    Exam with your orthodontist

    A licensed orthodontist checks your bite, jaw joints, gums and facial profile, then walks you through your scans on screen and explains what’s going on — and why.

  4. Minutes 35–40

    Preview your new smile

    Using your 3D scan, we create a simulation of how your teeth could move, so you can see your potential result before you commit to anything.

  5. Minutes 40–60

    Your custom plan & pricing

    A treatment coordinator compares your options — braces, Invisalign® or Smile Express — with your timeline, insurance benefits and monthly payment plans, and gives you a written quote to take home.

  6. Optional

    Start the same day — if you want

    Ready to go? Many clinics can place braces or take aligner scans that same day. Prefer to think it over? Your quote stays valid for 60 days.

What to bring

A few things help us give you an exact, all-in quote on the spot:

  • Photo ID — and for patients under 18, a parent or legal guardian
  • Insurance cards — dental and medical, front and back
  • A list of medications, allergies and health conditions
  • Recent X-rays from your dentist, if you have them — optional, since ours are free
  • Your old retainer or appliance if you’ve had orthodontic treatment before
  • Your HSA or FSA card if you might start the same day

Tip: bring whoever helps make the decision — and the budget. Siblings are welcome, and our lobbies have free Wi-Fi.

Do I need treatment now, or can it wait?

Some issues are easier to correct while the jaw is still growing; others can safely wait. Ask what happens if you hold off.

Braces or aligners — which fits my case?

Ask which options can reach your goals and how they compare in comfort, appearance and number of visits.

How long will my treatment take?

Most cases take 12 to 24 months. Ask what could make yours faster or slower — including how consistently you wear aligners.

What’s the total cost — and what will insurance cover?

Get one all-in number that includes retainers, then see how your benefits and a monthly plan bring it down.

How often will I need to come in?

Visits are typically every 6 to 10 weeks. Ask whether Orthivaro Anywhere remote check-ins can replace some of them.

What happens after treatment?

Our free-consultation promise. For new patients, your exam with a licensed orthodontist, digital X-rays and 3D scan are free, with no obligation to start treatment. If your orthodontist recommends additional records — such as a 3D CBCT scan for an impacted tooth — we’ll explain why and confirm the cost or your insurance coverage before anything is done.

Is the first consultation really free?

Yes. For new patients, the exam with an orthodontist, digital X-rays and 3D scan are free, and there’s no obligation to start treatment. If you decide to move forward, you’ll get a written quote first.

Do I need a referral from my dentist?

No referral needed — you can book directly. Many patients come on their dentist’s recommendation, and with your permission we’ll share your records with your dentist so everyone stays on the same page.

Can my child come to the first visit without me?

Patients under 18 need a parent or legal guardian at the first visit to review the plan and sign consent forms. For later visits, many families sign a form that lets teens come with another adult or on their own.

Can I start treatment the same day?

Often, yes. If your orthodontist confirms you’re ready and you choose a plan, many clinics can place braces or take aligner scans during the same visit. Plan on an extra 60 to 90 minutes if you’re getting braces.
